Meet Sadaf Alam, DDS

Dr. Alam brings over two decades of experience to Urban Smiles Dental, a women-owned practice built on trust, precision, and personalized care. She is a mom and understands how important it is for families to feel comfortable and cared for. Fluent in Urdu and Hindi, she is able to care for patients in their first language, which makes visits easier and more reassuring for many of the families she serves. Her approach is calm and attentive. Over the years, she has built lasting relationships across the Triangle by doing what she believes is right for each patient and taking the time to do it well.

Education & Background

Dr. Alam earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Adams School of Dentistry and completed a hospital residency focused on complex care, including head and neck surgery, trauma, orthodontics and pediatric dentistry. She has continued to expand her expertise through advanced training in implantology, cosmetic dentistry, sleep-related treatments, and proficiency with Invisalign®. She remains actively involved in continuing education through organizations like Spear Education, the Seattle Study Club, and Molis Coaching.

Advanced Care & Clinical Focus

With extensive training across multiple disciplines, Dr. Alam is able to provide a wide range of care in one place, including implants, Invisalign, tooth extractions, cosmetic dentistry, root canals and more complex procedures that often require outside referrals. Her approach blends function and aesthetics, allowing patients to not only restore their oral health, but feel confident in their smiles as well.

Outside the Office

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Alam enjoys creative pursuits like pressing flowers, making custom cards for special occasions, gardening, reading, and traveling. She has recently taken to playing Mahjong with her friends. She is also a proud parent of two children and values the balance between her professional life and the meaningful moments she spends with family.

Meet Dr. Jaehee Yoo

Born in Seoul, South Korea and raised in the mountains of Hendersonville, NC, Dr. Jaehee Yoo is proud to call North Carolina home. After attending the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham, she earned both her Bachelor and Doctorate degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also speaks Korean, allowing her to connect with patients and families who feel most at ease in their native language. Having provided care from Cherokee to Kitty Hawk and internationally in Honduras, Brazil, and India, Dr. Yoo brings a deeply compassionate, well-rounded perspective to Urban Smiles Dental.

Education & Background

Dr. Yoo's journey in dentistry began in Dental Hygiene, giving her a unique appreciation for preventive health and education before completing her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at UNC Chapel Hill. Her extensive clinical background spans natural tooth colored fillings, functional and esthetic crowns, bridges, partial dentures, complete dentures, minimally invasive extractions, grafting and membranes, zirconia implants, and clear aligner treatment such as Invisalign. She is licensed to administer nitrous oxide and moderate conscious IV sedation for patients with anxiety, and has spent hundreds of hours on continuing education, dedicated to lifelong learning.

With a broad skill set across multiple disciplines, Dr. Yoo offers comprehensive care tailored to what each individual needs. Whether she is performing restorative procedures, aesthetic enhancements, or surgical treatments, her clinical approach blends function, beauty, and comfort. She places a strong emphasis on carefully listening to her patients, creating treatment plans that are curated for their lifestyle through collaboration. She always takes the time to offer education on a patient's oral health, making sure they feel informed.

Outside the Office

Dr. Yoo enjoys exploring local restaurants and coffee shops, traveling, serving at her church, and escaping to the mountains to hike, fly fish and ski. Whether it’s working on her golf and tennis skills, or picking up a game of chess, she loves trying new things and meeting people from all walks of life. She also enjoys quieter moments spent reading, writing, and watching her husband cook and garden.
